Exchange Orders are valid for 90 days from the date of issue. Please redeem your Exchange Order for JR Pass within this 90-day timeframe
Activation Process
- When redeeming your JR Pass, please ensure to select an activation date within 30 days from redemption
- Once activated, the pass will be valid for 7, 14, or 21 consecutive days within one month
Seat Reservation Process
- Seat reservations are only available after you have redeemed your JR Pass
- Seat reservations can be made at the (i) ticket Office (Midori-no-madoguchi) through rail staff or (ii) via the Reserved-Seat Ticket Machines
Seat reservations with ticket machine:
- (1) Scan the QR code on your JAPAN RAIL PASS or enter the reservation number manually. Then, provide your passport number
- (2) Enter travel details (section, date, time, and preferences) or select your existing online reservation
- (3) Review and confirm the details, then issue the ticket
