• Valid licenses in Japan Required Documents (Bring all originals) To participate in this activity/driving, you must present the following three original documents: National Driver's License, International Driving Permit (IDP)—booklet type issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention, and Passport. If documents are missing or invalid on the day of the activity, your reservation will be canceled, and no refund will be issued. Country-Specific Requirements United States, Canada, Australia Passport holders must present an IDP or SOFA. Driver's licenses must be Category B booklet type. All participants must also present their domestic driver's license and passport. Indian Passport Holders A valid IDP must be issued by one of the following organizations: Western India Automobile Association, Northern India Automobile Association, Eastern India Automobile Association, Southern India Automobile Association. The IDP must be the original booklet type of Category B. Participants must also bring their domestic driver's license and passport. Switzerland, Germany, France, Taiwan, Belgium, Estonia, Monaco, etc. Please bring the following three documents: your genuine National Driver's License, an official Japanese translation issued by an authorized Japanese translation organization, and your passport. Important notes Please be sure to verify whether your driver's license and/or domestic refuge are valid for driving in Japan. Residents of China, Indonesia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and some other countries cannot drive in Japan. Japan only accepts domestic refugees issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention. Paper or digital IDPs are not accepted. Be sure to check before traveling, as many agencies issue invalid domestic refuges.
