金山岭长城系明朝爱国将领戚继光担任蓟镇总兵官时期(1567年—1582年)主持修筑，是万里长城的精华地段。因其视野开阔、敌楼密集、景观奇特、建筑艺术精美、军事防御体系健全、保存完好而著称于世，素有"万里长城，金山独秀"之美誉，堪称万里长城的巅峰之作。长城西起龙峪口，东至望京楼，全长10.5公里，有关隘5处，敌楼67座，烽燧3座。挡马墙、障墙、文字砖墙、麒麟影壁墙、库房楼铺房在万里长城中绝无仅有。

走进金山岭长城，你会被它完美的保存状态所震撼。它是国家重点文物保护单位、国家级风景名胜区，甚至还被列入世界文化遗产名录。这里有三个特点让人印象深刻。首先就是障壁，那些巨大的石头堆砌而成的墙体宛如坚固的屏障，令人瞠目结舌。其次就是人物砖，漂亮的壁画砖可以见证古代将领和士兵的英勇事迹，仿佛带你穿越时空。最后就是马石，这些由巨大石头雕刻而成的马形雕塑，不仅造型逼真，更让整个长城栩栩如生。

金山岭长城以其视野开阔、敌楼密集、建筑防御系统完善而闻名。长城全长10.5公里，沿途设有5座关隘，67座敌楼以及3座烽燧。登上长城，你可以俯瞰险峻的山脉，远眺宛如镜面的水库，仿佛置身于仙境中。而长城建筑更是独具特色，有砖木结构的，也有砖石结构的，形式各异，让人赞叹不已。
