Eligibility

• Participants must be aged 12+ to participate in this activity

• Children aged 12+ will be charged the same rate as adults

• Children aged 10–12: Participants aged 10–12 who wish to enroll should contact the operator directly for eligibility confirmation and course requirements (Age 10 i the Australian Standard for PADI Open Water Certification, but the recommended age to participate is age 12 as emotional maturity is required as a diver)

• Group size: 1-8 participant(s)

Additional information

• Once the e-learning theory has been commenced, this portion of the course is non-refundable, as the operator cannot recover these costs

Diving course content

• 2 Required dives:
• Deep dive: To a depth near 30 m, potentially demonstrating the effects of nitrogen narcosis
• Navigation dive: Learning to use a compass and the surroundings to get around
• 3 remaining dives: Guests can then select from a wide range of elective adventure dive choices as shown below:
• Peak performance buoyancy (Highly recommended as Dive 1)
• Underwater digital imaging (includes underwater photography and videography)
• Drift diving
• Underwater naturalist
• Fish ID
• Shark awareness
• Night dive (This elective dive choice occurs on special trips only)
• Wreck dive (This elective dive choice occurs on special trips only)
• Enriched air Nitrox specialty dive (This elective dive choice can be combined in the advanced courses as one of the dives)
• Search and recovery (special arrangements needed)
• Please note that there is no classroom time in the PADI Advanced Open Water Course: The theory component is completed through self-study using PADI eLearning on the PADI portal. A physical manual is also available; however, all knowledge reviews must be completed and submitted to the operator's instructors for assessment before certification can be issued

PADI course prerequisite:

• Medical questionnaire showing no major health concerns

Additional information

• It is recommended to bring travel sickness medication for guests who may experience sea-sickness during this course, as the operator cannot provide any medication (The operator recommended to not use ginger as a form of medication)
• This activity is not recommended: Guests with diabetes
• Sun burn and seasickness are both avoidable with over-the-counter preventatives. The most common injuries caused by marine life are scrapes and strings, which mostly can be avoided by wearing gloves and an exposure suit, staying off the bottom and watching you hands and feet placement
• Please note that wetsuits, masks, snorkels, and fins are only available for use when diving with the operator on their boats and cannot be rented separately

Accessibility

• The boat has a back entry gate with a small downward step from the floating whar onto the boat (The estimated distance of the downward step would be 20-30 cm depending on the tide)
• Please inform the operator if any assistance is needed in entering and existing the boat

License Required

• A PADI Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver Certificate is required to participate in this activity

Prohibitions & Limitations

• The activity is not recommended: epilepsy / asthma / other serious medical conditions
• Please be mindful not to feed the marine / wild animals or engage in any activity that may damage the ecosystem
• Water skill Level Requirement: Advanced
