【National Taiwan Museum Main Building + Paleontology Hall】
- The National Taiwan Museum was established in 1908. The main building, formerly the Taiwan Governor-General Museum, is the oldest existing museum in Taiwan, characterized by its natural history collection. The Paleontology Hall was formerly the Taipei Branch of the Nippon Kangyo Bank. In 1991, the Ministry of the Interior designated it as a third-class historic site, and in 1997 it was changed to a Taipei City historic site. Since 2005, the National Taiwan Museum has been responsible for the restoration and subsequent operation and management of the historic site, positioning it as a museum of natural history and financial history.
【National Taiwan Museum Nanmen Branch】
- In 1897, the Taiwan Governor-General's Office stipulated an opium monopoly, and in 1899, the Monopoly Bureau Taipei Nanmen Factory was built as an important production base for manufacturing and testing camphor and opium, the two major monopoly products. In 1901, it was renamed Nanmen Factory, and in 1931, it was renamed Taipei Nanmen Factory. It was the only public camphor processing factory in Taiwan during the Japanese era. Currently, only the camphor warehouse (hereinafter referred to as the Red House), the goods warehouse (hereinafter referred to as the Little White House), the 400-stone water storage tank, and a section of the factory's red brick walls remain. In 1998, the Nanmen Factory was designated as a national historic site by the Ministry of the Interior. In 2006, it was transferred to the National Taiwan Museum by the National Property Administration and incorporated into the Capital Museum System Project, restoring the historic site for reuse as an exhibition hall.
【National Taiwan Museum Railway Department Park】
- The National Historic Site Taiwan Governor-General Railway Department of Transportation was the site of the Taipei Machinery Bureau in the Qing Dynasty and the first modern train repair industrial park in Taiwan. Later, it became the management center for railway transportation throughout Taiwan. In 1989, the Taipei New Station was completed, and the Taiwan Railway Administration moved out, leaving the space idle. Since 2006, the National Taiwan Museum and the Taiwan Railway Administration have cooperated to promote the transformation of the Railway Department into a museum park.
- The Railway Department Historic Site Exhibition features four themed exhibition rooms, six digital guided tours, and twenty on-site displays of disassembled investigations, presenting the historical charm and architectural features of the Railway Department. From the perspective of restoration records, it leads the audience back to the restoration site to get a glimpse of the craftsmen, construction techniques, and restoration considerations involved in the restoration process of the historic site. The wonderful aspects of the Railway Department's historic architecture await your personal visit to discover them in detail.
