Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas Ticket in Cairns
Overview
The award-winning Wildlife Habitat, located in Port Douglas, provides visitors with a chance to experience the wildlife of wetlands, rainforests, Savannahs, woodlands, and nocturnal environments in an open and interactive setting. Explore the rainforest habitat from forest floor to canopy as you make your way along the boardwalks and admire the wildlife that calls this environment home, including the southern cassowary. Savannah Habitat offers you the opportunity to hand-feed kangaroos and wallabies, as well as admire emus and the Lumholtz’s Tree Kangaroo. Dive into the aquatic territory of the mighty Estuarine Crocodile at the brand new CrocArena. This off-the-scale Swim with the Salties experience is the only one of its kind in Queensland and allows guests to swim eye-to-teeth with these terrifying apex predators and live to tell the tale! Our Swim with the Salties experience is not for the faint-hearted. With the bigger of the two crocs at a size of just over 4.3 meters long and weighing in at nearly 400 kilograms, these boys are a sight to behold! Join a guided tour with one of our experienced wildlife keepers to learn more about the wildlife inhabiting the park. You can cuddle a koala, juvenile crocodile, or snake and get a photo to remember the occasion. Start your day with a sumptuous breakfast with the birds, or stop for a break and enjoy hot and cold drinks, morning tea, lunch, or a quick snack in the Curlew Café throughout the day.

- Estuarine or saltwater Crocodiles are cold-blooded reptiles. Their energy is sourced from sunlight, and weather conditions in their environments can dictate their feeding habits. Far north Queensland has tropical climes. During the “dry season,” May–September, feeding and swimming experiences may be affected during these “colder” months when crocodilians typically become less active. During the “wet season” build-up around October or November, humid temperatures can change crocodile behaviors and habits, and they may become more active. The CrocArena team is attuned to animal behavior, and the operator will make every effort to ensure your “swim with the salties” is memorable; however, please be advised these are wild animals, and the operator is unable to guarantee they will feed and engage all year round.
