Colds and respiratory infections can trigger acute altitude sickness.
  • If severe altitude sickness symptoms occur while traveling to high-altitude areas, take immediate action. Promptly administer aminophylline or nifedipine 20mg sublingually. In severe cases, administer oxygen. If experiencing severe chest tightness, violent coughing, difficulty breathing, pink frothy sputum, slow response, apathy, or even coma, in addition to the above measures, seek immediate medical attention at a nearby hospital or transfer to a lower altitude area as soon as possible for treatment and recovery.
