The origin of Kerið Crater Lake dates back to a volcanic eruption approximately 6,500 years ago, when lava cavities and crater collapses formed the crater we see today. It is known for the striking contrast between the deep red and black lava rocks of mineral deposits and the blue-green lake water, making it a naturally beautiful attraction.
Gullfoss, also known as the Golden Falls, is a must-see attraction on the Golden Circle route. It flows from Iceland's second-largest glacier, Langjökull. The waterfall first cascades down a 36-meter gentle slope, then plunges rapidly from a 68-meter cliff, forming a magnificent waterfall and beautiful water mist that reflects a huge rainbow in the sunlight.
The Geysir Geothermal Area is named after the original Geysir geyser, although it is no longer active. It is filled with steam vents, bubbling mud pits, and colorful ponds, and the most attractive is the active Strokkur geyser, which erupts every 5 to 10 minutes with water columns up to 20 meters high.
Thingvellir National Park is one of Iceland's most famous attractions and is historically and geologically significant to Iceland. The park was once the birthplace of the world's first parliament. Iceland's parliament, the Althing, was founded in 930 AD, making it the oldest parliament in the world.
