Thingvellir National Park is a place of significant geological and cultural importance, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004.
Located on the exposed part of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, Thingvellir is the rift valley between the North American and Eurasian plates, meaning you will be standing between two continents. The Öxarárfoss waterfall crosses the ridge, presenting a beautiful 13-meter (42.65 feet) high drop.
Here, the world's first parliament was founded in 930 AD. Standing at the Hakið viewpoint, you can overlook the magnificent panorama of the entire area.
Nearby is also the Almannagjá gorge, with water sourced from Iceland's second-largest glacier, Langjökull, with crystal-clear water quality.
The Geysir area is an active geothermal area, full of steam vents, bubbling mud pots, and colorful ponds.
The most notable is the Strokkur geyser, which erupts every 5-10 minutes, with water columns reaching up to 20 meters high.
Visitors should be especially careful and only walk on designated trails, as the water temperature under the hot springs is extremely high.
Gullfoss waterfall, also known as the Golden Waterfall, is one of the must-visit attractions on Iceland's Golden Circle.
Its water flows first from an 11-meter (36 feet) gentle slope and then falls from a 68-meter (230 feet) cliff, creating a huge water mist.
The Kerið crater is another highlight on Iceland's Golden Circle, known for its green lake water and colorful crater slopes.
The Kerið crater was formed 3,000 years ago when a volcanic eruption caused the volcanic chamber to collapse, forming the crater we see today.
The crater has a perfect inverted cone shape, and visitors can visit it along the trails.
The Blue Lagoon is today's highlight, known for its milky blue water, which is rich in silica, algae, salts, and other minerals, providing excellent beauty effects.
