What is MANGALOGUE? MANGALOGUE = Manga + Logue (Story) A new experience that transforms manga from something you read into something you truly experience. Created by MoN Takanawa, MANGALOGUE is an immersive live performance that projects manga onto a massive LED screen, combined with music, lighting, and a robotic arm that guides the visuals. Together with “MANGALOGUERs,” audiences share and immerse themselves in the story. A robotic arm with a camera moves as if alive, following each panel and projecting its perspective onto the screen. By presenting images and text over time, the audience experiences the story as it unfolds in real time. Featuring Phoenix by Osamu Tezuka, this performance explores the meaning of life through an epic and immersive journey.

  • MANGALOGUE: Phoenix is a new live-style manga experience inspired by Osamu Tezuka’s Phoenix. Using the original manga’s visuals and text as a starting point, it transforms the typically solo act of reading manga into a shared experience, allowing the entire audience to experience the story together.
  • Rather than adapting the manga into film or theater, this performance recreates the act of reading itself—including the pacing, perspective, and emotional immersion—as a live performance. Audiences can follow and experience the story unfolding in real time.
