  • Zao Fox Village: Spend Leisurely Time with Healing Foxes Zao Fox Village is Japan's only natural park with the theme of free-range foxes. More than 100 foxes live in the park, and you can observe them up close as they freely move around and interact in the forest, and even follow visitors. Although you cannot touch them, you can still feel the natural charm of the foxes and capture many precious moments. If traveling with children, please note that each adult can only bring one child who is not yet enrolled in school.

  • Shiroishi Castle: Experience 260 Years of Historical Splendor Shiroishi Castle (Masuoka Castle) was once the residence of the Katakura clan, senior vassals of the Date family, and witnessed historical changes from the Battle of Sekigahara to the Meiji Restoration. In the reconstruction in 1995, the beams of the Ote-mon gate were specially selected from Taiwanese alpine wood, which not only represents the high quality of Taiwanese wood but also shows the long-standing good reputation of Taiwanese wood in Japan. Shiroishi Castle is also a famous cherry blossom viewing spot in Miyagi Prefecture, with clusters of cherry blossoms adorning the historical castle with soft spring colors.

  • Sumaru Yashiki: Meiji/Taisho Era Mansion Located in the center of Shiroishi City, Sumaru Yashiki was built in the mid-Meiji period and was formerly a private residence of a local wealthy merchant. Over time, this historic Japanese building has been carefully preserved and transformed into a creative space that combines art and life, often hosting exhibitions by writers and artists, as well as small-scale markets on an irregular basis. The garden displays different scenery with the changing seasons – spring cherry blossoms, summer greenery, autumn foliage, and winter snow, with various flowers dotted throughout, adding a sense of the season to this building with a strong Meiji and Taisho atmosphere.

  • Tsurigane An: Shiroishi Umen Noodle Specialty Restaurant Tsurigane An is a famous Umen noodle restaurant in Shiroishi City, carrying on a traditional flavor that has been passed down for more than 400 years. Shiroishi Umen noodles are made without a drop of oil, using only wheat flour and salt water. They have a mild taste, are refreshing, and easy to digest, making them a unique delicacy of Shiroishi.
