Two days, two stunning peaks — deep in the Aberdares, one of Kenya's most underrated and crowd-free mountain ranges. Day 1 Mt. Kipipiri (3,349m): A confidence-building 17km traverse through open grasslands and montane forest, rewarded with sweeping panoramas of the Great Rift Valley, Lake Naivasha shimmering below. Watch for bushbuck in the undergrowth and eagles riding updrafts at eye level. Evening in camp means highland air, fire-cooked meals, and stars filling the sky. Day 2 Seven Ponds (3,800m): The steeper challenge — 11km through bamboo forest and otherworldly moorlands to a series of tranquil alpine pools that feel like a secret the mountain kept just for you. Giant lobelias dot the landscape, primates move through the trees, and the silence at the top is profound.
